Carole King
She Made the Earth Move
The legendary singer-songwriter Carole King has shaped American popular music since the early 1960s. Her 1971 album, Tapestry, won a record four Grammys, and she’s still performing today. Drawing on numerous interviews and contemporary sources, biographer Jane Eisner reveals King’s musical genius and cultural influences as she traces her life from humble Brooklyn beginnings to musical stardom, from personal strife to her recent years as a political activist and the subject of a Tony Award-winning musical.
Jane Eisner is the former editor-in-chief of The Forward, Director of Academic Affairs at Columbia Journalism School, and author of Taking Back the Vote: Getting American Youth Involved in Our Democracy.
