Fingerhut shares Jewish community’s gratitude with Bondi Beach hero

While meeting with Bondi Beach hero Ahmed al-Ahmed, Jewish Federations President and CEO Eric D. Fingerhut expressed the Jewish community’s gratitude for Ahmed’s bravery, which saved countless lives as the horrific Hanukkah shooting unfolded.

Fingerhut presented Ahmed with a certificate from One Mitzvah A Day, which collected the names of thousands of individuals who thanked him for risking his life to protect the Jewish community.

“Because of Ahmed al-Ahmed, hundreds – if not thousands – of lives were saved. His courage and selflessness, which literally put his life on the line, showed the best of humanity,” said Fingerhut. “The global Jewish community and our allies are deeply moved by his bravery and will never forget what he did.”

The meeting occurred during Ahmed’s visit to the United States, where he engaged with Jewish community leaders and elected officials. He was shot several times during the Bondi Beach terror attack and is still on the long road of recovery yet remains dedicated to the safety of Jews around the world.
