Jewish Federations of North America’s annual campaign experienced a 15.4% increase in FY25 —the largest recorded in the last decade. 

 

“We are seeing a remarkable level of engagement from our community, showing that the ‘Surge’ in Jewish engagement is translating into energy for Jewish causes through the strength of the Federation system,” said Serena Young, Vice President of Philanthropy at Jewish Federations of North America. “From our largest communities to our smallest, donors stepped up to renew their commitment to supporting flourishing Jewish life across North America, in Israel, and around the world.” 

 

Jewish Federations' Annual Campaigns are the core fundraising efforts powering the work of our system year-round, enabling communities to respond to both ongoing needs and unexpected crises. They support Federations as they build the infrastructure of Jewish communal life, including support for Jewish education, caring for vulnerable people, enhancing security, supporting Israel, and providing emergency relief whenever and wherever it is needed. 

 

The increase in annual campaign giving coincides with the end of a remarkable emergency campaign to support Israel that raised over $900 million. As the emergency campaign wound down, Jewish donors continued to invest in Jewish communal life, as well as efforts to Rebuild Israel. 

 

The latest report reveals that Federations not only had a banner annual campaign year, but also successfully increased the total number of donors. The system saw a 2.7% increase in donors from 2023 to 2025, bringing the total close to 290,000. This significant growth was primarily driven by increased contributions from existing donors, amplified by continued momentum from the Israel Emergency Campaign to Rebuild Israel, as well as efforts to support community security and combat antisemitism. 

 

Total fundraising reached a historic $2.9 billion in FY25, marking the highest-ever total for a non-emergency year. Unrestricted giving accounted for approximately 79% ($1.01 billion) of that total, proving it remains the backbone of the annual campaign. Averaging a $35 million year-over-year increase, unrestricted giving continues to be a driving force behind the Federation system’s revenue growth. 

 

“These remarkable results go beyond mere numbers; they represent a fundamental stabilization and strengthening of our entire system,” said outgoing National Campaign Chair David Heller. “By securing record-breaking unrestricted funds, we have proven that the Federation infrastructure is not only built to withstand turbulent times but is uniquely positioned to scale its support wherever and whenever it is needed most.” 

 

Over the course of Heller’s tenure, Jewish Federations have raised $4.8 billion in funds for the Jewish community. “As we look to the future, these milestone achievements provide an incredible foundation to build upon,” said incoming National Campaign Chair Dena Boronkay Rashes. “The unprecedented growth shows a profound, renewed connection to our collective mission. I am honored to step into this role at a time of such momentum, and I look forward to working across our extraordinary network to channel this generosity into deep, lasting impact for Jewish communities everywhere.”
