The Jewish Federation of the Greater San Gabriel and Pomona Valleys and Pasadena Jewish Temple & Center, along with our local synagogues and the Jewish community, invite you to our community’s one-year anniversary of the October 7th attack on Israel. The event will take place on Sunday, October 6th, beginning at 4:30 pm at Pasadena Jewish Temple & Center (1434 N. Altadena Drive, Pasadena).

For the last year, following the horrific attack by Hamas on October 7th, we have witnessed and experienced an unprecedented rise of hate and vitriol towards the Jewish community. From city council chambers to college campuses, Jews have been the target of anti-Israel hatred since Jews are seen and treated as Israel’s proxies. The last year has taken its toll on our local Jewish community. We are bringing our community together to give each other an opportunity to process what has transpired, to commemorate and remember those we have lost, and to find the tools we need to move forward as proud Jews.

The event will begin with a live-streamed program offered by the Shalom Hartman Institute. Leading Jewish Educator Rachel Korazim will guide us through “A Year in Poetry: Marking the Anniversary of October 7”. During this program, attendees will study and reflect together. Immediately following, attendees will have an opportunity to dialogue with one another over coffee and light refreshments. We will conclude the commemoration with a meaningful program led by our community’s clergy.

Our local Jewish community would be honored to have you attend and join us as we reflect and remember those who remain held hostage and those who were killed on October 7th.
